Demolition for a modern athletics stadium

The DA member company ABBA GmbH had the contract for a demolition that received a lot of attention in the press in the Ruhr region: it had to demolish one side of the stands in the Lohrheide stadium in Bochum-Wattenscheid for a new building. Because in future it should be possible for first-class athletics events to take place in NRW again, and to this end the old football stadium of Wattenscheid 09 is being converted into a state-of-the-art athletics competition arena.

For this purpose, the east stand is being renewed – in future, there will be more than 16,000 covered seats for the public in the stadium. The roof demolition itself went faster than expected: in one day, the light metal construction was history! And all of this was done while the stadium was still in use for training!
