Construction site of the week – Making space for new building

To the west of Augsburg, in Stadtbergen, a new single-family house is to be built in a residential area. In order for the new construction to be realized, the aging house on the private property first had to be demolished.

The contract for the demolition of the 60-year-old building was awarded to DA member company AUGSBURG ABBRUCH. To make room for the demolition work, the trees on the site were first cleared and their roots removed. This allowed the excavator to get to the building unhindered later on. Before the construction site could be accessed, a construction road had to be built.

The team started by removing the core and cleaning up the asbestos and other hazardous materials. The asbestos panels were packed in Big Bags and disposed of properly. The heating oil tank in the house was also decommissioned. Four people worked on the demolition of the detached house from mid-September to mid-October. The work was carried out using manual demolition equipment and a Hitachi ZX210 chain excavator.

A total of around 400 tons of material was removed, mainly bricks and concrete.
