Construction site of the week – Space for new flats in Lübeck

Construction site review: In Lübeck, it was ‘disco off – diggers on’ in summer 2023. The dance music on the banks of the Elbe-Lübeck Canal had long since faded away, but the buildings that once housed a discotheque and offices remained standing.
From July to October, with the best view of Lübeck’s old town, the first step was the professional dismantling of material containing CMF in the roof truss. Demolition work then began on the buildings. The entire site covered a volume of approx. 20,000 m3. The work was carried out by a Liebherr 930 hydraulic excavator. All of the accumulated material was transported to the company’s own yard by lorry and then recycled. A jaw crusher crushed the rubble and a screening plant was used to process it. The material can then be reused as mixed recycling. Mixed recycling is used as a base course substructure, for example for the substructure of paths, paved areas and construction roads for wind turbines.
Flats with a particularly beautiful view of Lübeck’s old town have now been built on the site. Further flats are being planned.
